The Centenary celebration of the Raunds bootmakers march to London in 1905 was held on Saturday 14th May 2005.

A re-enactment of the march kicked off the celebrations at 1:30pm when a parade of men dressed in outfits representing the period, joined in a parade headed by the Raunds Temperance Band, some period cyclists, including two penny farthings, a couple of steam traction engines, a 1927 steam powered car, a vintage car and a vintage van.

Large crowds lined the route from Brooks Road to the Saxon Hall where, after the march, a commemorative plaque was unveiled and an exhibition opened inside Saxon Hall around 2:10pm.

The permanent display of ceramic tiles made by children from all the Raunds’ schools was unveiled by Leah Talbot from St Peter’s School together with children from all the other schools who were involved in the ‘boot tile’ project.
