St Peter’s School Current Newsletter

This will be the LAST Newsletter for this school year. Information can always be found on our school website

Alternative Activity Day

We will be doing a range of activities on the school site on Thursday 22 July. These will start with a “mufti-day” with children paying £1 to come to school  dressed in their house colours then they will take part in a variety of activities to earn points for their house. Prizes will be awarded for “interesting costumes” and the winning house.  In the afternoon the Year 6 will organise stalls, games and sideshows for the other children. So each child will need £1 in pennies or other small coins to spend. All the money raised will go towards the Christmas Theatre trip.

Uniform

Manor School are changing their school uniform and therefore sending their old, clean and serviceable uniform to students in Ghana. If you have any of our school uniform you wish to donate please wash and bring to school by the end of term.

Reports

School reports have been sent home on today. Please return the confirmation slip on Monday 19 July so we know they have been delivered. If a further copy is required for those parents who live apart please contact the school office.

School Disco

We will be holding a disco on Thursday 22 July 6:30pm – 8:00pm. The entrance fee will be £2 and drinks and sweets will be on sale.

Children will NOT be allowed out of the Hall during the disco and we need parents to man the doors and also to help with refreshments. If the disco is to take place we need to make sure there is adequate supervision throughout the evening. Please fill in the slip below if you are able to help. THANK YOU!!

If we have NO volunteers by Tuesday the Disco will be cancelled.

Leavers Assembly

Year 6 will be presenting their leavers assembly on Friday 23 July. Parents/Carers of leavers are very welcome to attend and need to be in the Hall by 1:50pm.We wish all our Year 6 children well in their next phase of education.

We would like to wish Miss Parrott well in her new school, and Miss Westwood as she goes off to University.

Internet Safety

When unpleasant things are said about you on the internet, or nasty pictures are uploaded, it can be really upsetting and scary. Most social networking sites allow you to report cyberbullying and request for inappropriate content to be taken down. The organisation will investigate your report, but will only remove material if it is found to be illegal or breaks their terms and conditions. Facebook: 'Report' link on the profile page or email to abuse@facebook.com

Youtube: Create a free account and log-in. Beneath video select 'Flag content as inappropriate'

MySpace: 'Contact MySpace' link at bottom of each page and select 'Report Abuse'.

MSN: Select 'Help' tab (in Windows Live) followed by 'Report Abuse'.

Library Books

Could ALL school library books be returned by Wednesday 21st July? We will not be cross if your child brings back a large pile of books in fact we would be quite pleased!

Breakfast Club

Mrs Goulbourn and Mrs Lawrence would like to thank all breakfast club helpers for the hard work they do, they are terrific. Sadly we say goodbye to Antonia Binns, we wish her luck in her new school and thank her for all her help.

B>A>T>S Day

Following our very successful B>A>T>S afternoon last Friday we are please to inform you that we raised £50 from the sale of refreshments at this event, which will be forwarded on to the Air Ambulance Charity. Many thanks to all those who took part in our afternoon and made it such a great success. Photographs from the day are on our school website. Photographs from the evening awards presentation are being displayed on the foyer screen and individual copies will be given to children next week.

School Awards

A reminder to all those children who were presented with awards on Award Presentation Evening that all trophies are to be returned to school as soon as possible before the end of term, as we wish to keep these in school for future years. The “little star trophies” given out with the larger trophies are for the children to keep. On Thursday Mr & Mrs Morley from the Thrapston Rotary Club came in to Assembly and presented 8 children with “Rotary Stars” for being caring and kind members of our school community.
